Festive Fun in the Chinese CapitalDecember 01, 2014
Festive Fun in the Chinese CapitalThe Peninsula Beijing presents exciting dining promotions and family activities, plus an array of extra enticements to showcase the best of The Peninsula in the Chinese capital this holiday season.
The month-long festivities officially began on Thursday 27 November, with a Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony for 300 invited guests at The Lobby. Guests sipped warming glühwein and nibbled delicious seasonal delicacies, and the Beijing Children’s Choir performed traditional carols. At the end of the ceremony, Joseph Sampermans, General Manager of The Peninsula Beijing, flicked the switch and the hotel and courtyard were bathed in colourful lights, and the majestic Christmas Tree in the lobby was brightly illuminated.
This year’s Lighting Ceremony also featured the Beijing premiere of the charming SnowPage video, which takes viewers behind the scenes of the creation of the magical SnowPage. Volunteers from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® also invited attendees and guests to purchase SnowPage ornaments in support of the Li Zhi Rehabilitation Centre, which works in local communities across China.
During December, guests and visitors to The Peninsula Beijing will savour special seasonal flavours. For one month only, a winter-themed Festive Afternoon Tea will be served. The tiered silver stand will feature holiday delights including delicate finger sandwiches, cinnamon orange scones and beautifully crafted pastries. To add a little extra festive cheer, diners can pair these delectable treats with an optional glass of Peninsula Deutz Champagne.
To help make the season even more merry and memorable, a special eight-course diner menu will be served at Cantonese restaurant Huang Ting on 24, 25 and 31 December, and an array of festive dinner buffets and special giveaways welcome guests at Jing. Talented young chefs can also join in the fun. Parents and young guests can participate in a class to learn the art of Christmas cookie making.
