The Peninsula Arcade Welcomes the Year of the Ram with a Celebration of Heritage!

The arrival of the Lunar New Year, the most significant festival in the Chinese calendar, is always a cause for celebration. To welcome the Year of the Ram, a glamorous party celebrating heritage was held on 30 January at The Peninsula Arcade.

In partnership with Robb Report China, guests were greeted with the spectacle of massive photographic displays, spanning the lobby, of the most famous brands amongst the 37 outlets at The Peninsula Arcade. Hallmarks of sophistication and glamour, names such as Harry Winston, Hermès, Louis Vuitton showcased their rich heritage in the fashion and luxury goods arena through these photographic collections and in turn, the contribution they have made to the success of The Peninsula Arcade.

Spirits were high as the evening unfolded to also reveal a celebration of the cultural heritage of China. Beginning with an elaborate spread of traditional local delights prepared by the hotel chefs, delicacies ranged from vegetarian spring rolls, baked pork barbecue puffs, poached scallops, and prior to a noodle-pulling show and a sugared maws display to entertain the crowds.

Besides the delicious food stalls, there was a range of Chinese craft-making skills on display. From a traditional paper-cutting corner, a kite-making workshop to a demonstration of traditional sugar pulling techniques, guests were also encouraged to join various on-the-spot Chinese handicrafts workshops taking place at the lower levels of the lobby. To round off the cultural entertainment, a troupe of incredible musicians playing traditional Chinese instruments completed the Chinese festive atmosphere.
